Biography:
James Weaver “Kirk” Kirkpatrick is an experienced attorney in Waynesville, North Carolina. He received his Juris Doctorate from Regent University in 1994 and was admitted to practice law in the State of North Carolina in 1995.

Prior to attending Regent University, he completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1992 with a major in History and a minor in Political Science.  He was also a member of the Catawba College baseball team, which in 1992 was the only team in the history of the South Atlantic Conference with an undefeated conference record.

Kirk grew up in Waynesville, North Carolina and his family has resided in Haywood County since 1708. His great, great-grandfather was a local judge. He has ties to Haywood that go back 300 years. Kirk has practiced law for 25 years in Waynesville and has provided general practice services to the people of Waynesville as well as many clients from multiple states who reside in Western North Carolina. He has handled more than 6,000 real estate transactions and has tried more than 500 cases in District and Superior Court before judges and juries. He has served his community as a County Commissioner since 2002 being elected five consecutive times.

He and his wife, Christy, are also part owners in a pharmacy where his wife Christy is the pharmacist. Kirk’s most valuable asset at his firm is his staff where he has multiple-talented, experienced assistants who have worked with him for many years. Biography:

Hunter was born and raised in Waynesville NC. After graduating from Tuscola High School in 2001, he attended NC State University where he graduated with Honors with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a minor in economics. Hunter then went on to Campbell Law School, where he graduated in 2009 having obtained top honors in the subjects of Wills, Trusts and Estates, and Professional Responsibility and Ethics. Hunter moved back to Waynesville in 2013. He practiced wills, trusts, and estates law in Asheville until accepting the appointment as Haywood County Clerk of Superior Court on November 15, 2017. Hunter was elected to two terms of office as Clerk and is now looking forward to practicing law in his hometown. His practice focus will be on estate planning and administration, guardianships, adoptions, and representing small businesses.

Hunter is married to his wife of nineteen years, Dr. Morgan Schulhofer Plemmons. She is a veterinarian with Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital and is the Shelter Veterinarian for the Haywood County Animal Shelter. Morgan is also a Waynesville native and Tuscola High School graduate. Hunter and Morgan have two sons, Bradley and William, ages 12 and 10.
